Took so long

What took so long
to see the door I needed to close,
the place meant for me,
the answer only heaven knows.

What took so long
to grow the courage to leave,
to fly with my beautiful wings,
and soar the sky so free?

What took so long
to let all those hurts go,
to drift away on open sea
and find my true rhythm, and flow.

What took so long
to stop standing in my own way,
drop down my guard,
and make it to this day.

-love yourself, live unashamed, be a blessing- April H.
