Today’s focus word from A Yogic Path is Ahimsa

Spirit gave me a deep message this morning, with Santosha, a Niyama(personal practice) meaning contentment. As well as with Ahimsa, a Yama (rule for life) meaning non-violence. Ahimsa guides us to be sensitive to all livings beings and things within our world, to not bring harm to life. But this rule doesn’t just apply to our actions towards others, the same applies to how we treat ourselves. Santosha guides us to accept where we are in our individual journey, to find comfort in the now of the moment, and accept that not everyone is where we are or will understand our now as we understand it.

Being kind to ourselves is not only a form of self care, it is also abundantly valuable to our soul, leading us with our true heart soul and less with a critical ego mind. As Ahimsa card came to me in reverse from spirit, I am reminded to be more mindful of the way I treat and speak to myself, as Buddha says “As we think, so we become”. If I think and see myself in a negative light, then I carry more negative energy, becoming a more negative being on this planet. But if i think and see myself in a positive light, then i shall be a more positive being that has a more positive impact on the life of the world around me.
