Ashes of me
A Poem
1 min readJul 18, 2019
I’m not me anymore, I watched me close the door and tremble no more.
My throat burned as I choked on the ashes of me, a wound not a soul could see, charring all the bits of me.
I’m not me anymore, I shed battle-worn skin which hid the hunger that left me thin.
My heart stopped beating to a painful tune, fluttered a second, before syncing with the moon.
I’m not me anymore, I cleansed my thorns and molten blood, reborn, my self transformed.
I’m not me anymore, I am so very much more than the old me I wore.
